Liang Youmei v Public Prosecutor
Liang Youmei, a Chinese national, was convicted under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking 1,529.7 grams of methamphetamine found in her luggage at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The High Court sentenced her to death by hanging. She appealed, claiming innocence as an unknowing carrier, but the Court of Appeal upheld the conviction, finding she had mens rea possession and was wilfully blind to the drugs in her bag.
